About the Festival

The International Festival “Un Pedacito de Mundo” celebrates its tenth edition under the title “Un Pedacito de Mundo: 10 years of telling stories about Middle Eastern dance in Ibero-America” on February 27 and 28 and March 1, 2026 in Mexico City .

Throughout its history, the festival has established itself as a multidisciplinary space for the teaching and professionalization of Arabic dance in Mexico and Latin America. 

During this period, collaborative networks have been built between teachers and students from different countries in the region to share knowledge, experiences, and artistic proposals. We invite you to be part of this new edition.

Guest Teachers

Hassan Khalil

A legendary master of Egyptian folklore, he holds doctorates in Theatre Direction and Music from the Bulgarian Academy of Arts and in Egyptian Folklore from the Giza Academy.


He is the founder of the National Ensemble of Egypt (Kaomeya Troupe) and former director of the Balloon Theatre and the Oum Kalsoum Theatre in Cairo.
He has trained iconic figures such as Samia Gamal, Tahia Carioka , and Nagwa Fouad , leaving an invaluable legacy in Egyptian dance and culture.

Sadie Marquardt

World-renowned for her technical virtuosity and rhythmic precision in belly dance, Sadie is an iconic figure in the art form with over 30 million YouTube views. She is the founder of the educational program Raqs Flow and has coached Shakira on her «Las mujeres ya no lloran» tour . Her style combines power, control, and stage presence.

Gitza Krotzsch

Her vision of dance is influenced by psychology and dance therapy, integrating body, emotion, and mind in every movement. Founder of Gitza Dance School in Barcelona, ​​Gitza is a renowned choreographer and director of the Raqs Sahira company , specializing in Arabic fusion dance. 

Khahina

With over 25 years of experience, Kahina Manelli has developed a pioneering approach that unites Arabic dance with Afro-Brazilian roots. Her collaboration with Egyptian musician Hossam Ramzy allowed her to integrate Eastern musicality into Latin rhythms, creating an aesthetic that celebrates cultural fusion. Through her teaching, Kahina has become a leading figure in cultural fusion, connecting Latin American dancers with the living heritage of the Middle East.

Hannan AlMuthawa

Her dance celebrates Bahraini-Colombian heritage and cultural fusion, with an academic focus on Middle Eastern traditions. A researcher and teacher specializing in Arabic folk dances, Hannan directs the Al Mutawao cultural center and shares her knowledge through her educational YouTube channel. Her work combines research, technique, and a passion for cultural preservation.

Vero Vital

A Mexican choreographer and dancer who has placed oriental dance within the discourse of contemporary dance. With a background in dramaturgy and a poetic vision of movement, Vero Vital creates works that intertwine body, narrative, and emotion. Her theoretical and theatrical approach explores the cultural fusion between Arab and Latin traditions, transforming her work into a vibrant reflection on identity and transformation through art.

Silvina Fredes

Researcher and cultural promoter Silvina Fredes has articulated an academic and artistic approach that addresses dance as a space for symbolic exchange between the East and Latin America. Founder of the Fatme Institute and Company , she has developed a line of work focused on the fusion of styles such as Arabic tango and Arabic bachata . Her educational and aesthetic proposal stands out for its conceptual depth and its contribution to the construction of hybrid identities within oriental dance.

Maryam Coach

An internationally renowned Mexican teacher and producer, Maryam Coach is known for her holistic approach to teaching belly dance. With over forty awards and a solid career as a Master Teacher and Coach , she has fostered the artistic and personal development of dozens of dancers. Her career represents the consolidation of Mexican female leadership within the contemporary oriental dance scene.

Dayna Itzel

She integrates tradition and contemporary style, combining musicality, technique, and stage presence. A Mexican dancer specializing in Egyptian folk dances such as baladi , saidi, and Andalusian , Dayna is recognized for her clear teaching, authentic interpretation, and commitment to preserving folklore within modern belly dance.

Carmen Vargas

A promoter of Arab and flamenco culture in Latin America, with over 25 years of experience. A Colombian dancer and cultural manager, she is the founder of the La Jarana academy and the creator of her country’s first Arab orchestra. Carmen has dedicated her career to promoting oriental dance and flamenco, distinguished by her stage presence and authenticity.
